KISS InstaWave Automatic Curler

I was provided the Kiss Instawave Automatic Curler for review by Brandbacker.
The KISS InstaWave is a fully automatic tangle-free curler that instantly creates beautiful curls

Easy for anyone to use, from any angle, with any hand

Features a Curl Dial with left/right curl directions

Automatically shuts off after 90 minutes

2 heat settings with a low/high switch with maximum temperature of 420.

Here it is - that blue light means it's ready to go

First things first start with straight, untangled hair.
I have wavy hair these days but I had straightened it this morning before work so I was ready to go.

Here is the 3 steps.
1 - Wait till the light is blue; which means the curler is heated up
2 - Position the curler near the top of your head and press the button to curl it around the barrel.
3 - Wait about 20 seconds for the curl to set.
4 - Voila curls.
*The official instructions are:
  • Hold InstaWave vertically
  • Simply place section of hair on the InstaWave curling rod
  • Touch the Curl Dial either left or right, and the InstaWave instantly and automatically catches and curls the hair
  • Hold for 5-10 seconds, hold longer for tighter curls and less for beachy waves
  • Pull the InstaWave down vertically, letting hair out

There is a video I watched at http://www.KISSInstaWave.com that gave a good understanding on how to use the curler.

I was actually really happy with the results: It was easy to use, it didn't take long to curl my hair, and I didn't need to worry about my hair getting caught in it.
I have a Curl Secret, and I have definitely gotten my hair stuck; I mean REALLY stuck in it and I appreciate that there was no way I was going to have to rip my hair out of this curler.

The only thing is I have to do more work with this. I didn't want to curl my whole head so I'm not sure if I would get my hair curled in half an hour to forty five minutes like I do with the Curl Secret but I would give it a try.

I definitely recommend this for people that are looking for an alternative curling iron.

BA Star | Lip Pencil in Holiday Red

I received a sample of BA Star's Lip Pencil in Holiday Red. I wouldn't normally wear a red like this but I wanted to give it a shot.

I received this product through brand backer. A website that gives companies an opportunity to send out samples to bloggers to try and get their feedback on them.
You can sign up here.

The lip liner appears to be alot more gold toned that it actually is when looking at the pencil.
But it applies in a very bright red formula.
It had a lovely smell to it though and perhaps with the right lip gloss to tone it down it would work on me.

None the less I really liked the formula and would recommend it to those that can pull off such a bright red. Or they do have other colours available on their website.

Colours include:
  • Cranberry - deep rich colour
  • Passion Pink - deep full pink
  • Bronze - natural shimmer
  • Holiday Red - perfect stage red

The lip pencils retail for $8.75 each or if you order 6 or more, they are $5.00 each.

But using the discount code: BBLIPS you can get 50% off the full retail price. (Cannot be combined with any other offers).

BA Star | Star Dust in Apricot

BA Star is #1 makeup used by Cheerleaders, Dancers, Competitors & Trend Setters. They have makeup that is meant to stick (they have makeup glue) as well as flashy colours.
I heard about them from Brandbacker.

I received a sample of Stardusk in the colour Apricot however I would not normally chose this colour for myself.

One thing to mention was that I opened it and took the sticker off, closed it so I could swatch and try it later. Later rolled around and I could NOT get the damn lid off. I asked my man to help, I even tried the bottle opener thing on my scissors. Nothing.

I got the damn thing to open this morning but it was weird.

This is a picture of the Stardust from BA Star's website.

It's very light against my hand here but it has a bit of shimmer to it.

I applied it to my eyes, but I will not be wearing this colour again. Orange just isn't for me.

I would be interested in trying out one of the pink or purple colours they have available but alas that is not what I received.

If you are interested in purchasing any of the Stardusts off of their website you can us the discount code BBDUST for 50% off.

Julep July Selection

Oh Julep how I love you.

I was really disappointed in the June boxes - I got Modern Beauty (the box with two products) and the DD Cream & Concealer were tiny and the colours did not work for me.

BUT this month I am in love with almost the whole collection - so I am upgrading. Hoping to get the ones I don't like out the door before they arrive - but alas so far I've just sold 3 addons and 1 of the colours from my box.

The Profiles are as follows:

Infused with sea salt and nourishing marine extracts, this easy-to-use styling spray boosts volume and creates ocean-kissed waves.
Beach Tonic Dry Body Oil
This lightweight, antioxidant-rich moisturizer absorbs instantly and leaves no greasy residue—just soft skin and a breezy citrus fragrance.

Ipsy June

This marks my second Ipsy bag - and I've been sorda impressed with it.
On the one hand I have gotten things that I don't see myself using - on the other I have been lucky to be able to trade for the items I really wanted out of the selection.

This month I received:

Starlooks Lip Liner in Bare $12.00
"Starlooks' long-lasting, full-coverage Lip Pencil enhances the shape of your lips and gives them perfect definition. This creamy, moisturizing formula glides on softly to smooth lips and ensure lipstick stays in place, while extending its wear. Can also be used as an all-over, highly-pigmented lip color. Comes in several shades and various finishes to pair with any Starlooks Lipstick, Lip Gloss, or Tendergloss! "
I was super excited about Starlooks - but alas the shade is pretty brown, and not really my style - I was trying to trade it but no luck yet.

NYX Blush in Sand $5.00
The NYX Powder Blush delivers sheer, silky color that glides on and blends beautifully creating a natural glow.
This too I was excited about - as I've never gotten to try Nyx; but I don't wear gold blush.

Cailyn Gel Liner in Iron $21.00
Whether you are trying to create the eyes of a runway model or the classic look of a 60's Hollywood star, the Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner can make any style possible! The easy to use built-in brush makes it perfect for taking on-the-go. Create a chic yet casual look right before work, and then update it for a night out with the girls. The Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner brushes on smooth and stays moist just long enough for wearers to perfect their look. Once dry, the gel is smudge-proof and waterproof for 24 hours.
This one I might just use. But I haven't gotten much luck out of gel liner; so my bestie my get it

J.Cat Sparkling Cream Palette - in Volta $4.99
Everyone loves a little sparkle! Add a healthy dosage of sparkle in your life with the cream palette that comes in a variety of complementing colors. The creamy texture allows the sparkle to be applied easily with an applicator onto your skin
Now you've probably noticed the J.Cat palette is missing - well that's because I traded it.
Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil $18.00
Chella's Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil is a fresh and pretty neutral pencil that will brighten and visibly lift your eyes when lightly applied on the brow bone, dark circles, blemishes and red spots."
Finally I am excited to use this - I haven't really played around with highligher pencils but I am very interested.

The overall value of the bag was a whopping $60.99 - I paid roughly $15.00, and everything was full sized.
If nothing else I will try the products I am not sure of and it will broaden my knowledge of makeup.

INTERNATIONAL DELIGHT™ ICED COFFEE

I received the International Delight Iced Coffee from BzzAgent.  I was provided with 9 coupons to try each flavour of the Iced Coffee & 2 International Delight Tumblers.
*The opinions I state in my review are mine and mine only.*

So far I have tried the Caramel Macchiato.

The first time I tried it I put it over ice and it was pretty good.
The second time I added extra half & half to it and I think it was better.
I am big on iced coffee; especially when it's got extra flavour to it.

I am super excited for days lounging in the hot tub with a glass of this (maybe with some Baileys).
I like that I can stick it in the tumbler and take it to work - which I did.

I really want to try the Vanilla next - but the grocery store didn't have that one before.

The weather has been so dreary lately I don't see myself in the pool soon with a cup of this :( but I think it will be handy to have for my coffee addict friends who need their caffeine in the morning.

Bark Box May 2013

This month's Barkbox wasn't as jam packed as last month but we were still pretty excited about it.
Penny was pretty interested as it all smelt pretty minty.

This month's Box contained:

Planet Dog: Eggplant (this is kinda like a kong but instead it's shaped like an Eggplant - and it smells minty)
Loving Pets: 4 oz Grill-icious Mini Bites (Beef)
Barkworthies: 6-7" Smoked Pig Bone
Bocce's Bakery: Green Remedy Biscuits

Overall I liked the box - but there wasn't any wow factor.
Last month there was a couple fun products (like the vitamins) that I was excited to try.
I do like that the treats were minty and should keep Penny's breath smelling nice.
The Eggplant too will be fun to stuff with stuff.

If you'd like to sign up you can do so here - and you'll get $5.00 off your first box.

Penny's newest thing is icecream - She even got a free "dog cone" at Dairy Queen - which she licked to it was long gone.
How does your pet cool off?
